JNTUGV R23 B.Tech Regulations Amended: First Class with Distinction Eligibility Rules

JNTU-GV R23 B.Tech Distinction Rules
The R23 B.Tech. Regulations prescribe First Class with Distinction for CGPA ≥ 7.5 but do not state whether a candidate with supplementary history is eligible, whereas the R20 and R26 Regulations require no supplementary appearance. As the first R23 batch completes in April 2027, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor has directed that the R23 Regulations be amended. Accordingly, the following orders are issued:
1. Amendment: First Class with Distinction under the R23 Regulations shall be awarded for CGPA ≥ 7.5, provided the candidate has no supplementary history, i.e., has not appeared for supplementary examination in any course. A candidate with CGPA ≥ 7.5 who has supplementary history shall be awarded First Class.
2. Applicability: This applies to all students admitted under the R23 Regulations. The Controller of Examinations shall follow it while issuing Provisional Certificates and other certificates. All other provisions of the R23 Regulations remain unchanged.
What This Means for Students
- Students with a CGPA of 7.5 or above and no supplementary examination history are eligible for First Class with Distinction.
- Students with a CGPA of 7.5 or above but with supplementary examination history will receive First Class instead of First Class with Distinction.
- The amendment applies to all students admitted under the R23 Regulations.
Students are advised to refer to the official JNTU-GV proceedings for the complete details of the amendment.
