Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi has released the official notification of Graduate Aptitude Test of Engineering (GATE) 2020. As per the announcement, the GATE 2020 will be held on 1st, 2nd, 8th and 9th February 2020. GATE 2020 will be held for 25 papers as every year. GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) online application process will be starting from 3rd September 2019. Candidates having the suitable eligibility criteria can apply till 24th September. The extended closing date of the online application process was announced as 1st October. GATE is the short form of Graduate Aptitude Test of Engineering. Annually GATE exam will be conducted for aspirants seeking to get their Graduate Degree from IITs, NITs, IISCs and other national level organizations. The GATE examination will be conducted by IITs every year. This year IIT Gawhati is conducting the examination. A huge number of aspirants from across India are going to compete for GATE examination every year. This examination will be held for 25 various papers. Candidates can choose their interested subject to get admission.
Every year lakhs of aspirants wishing to get admission in ME/M.Tech courses clash for this examination. This year more than 9 lakh students are expected to clash for GATE 2020. Newly, “Statistics” Paper with Code ST has been introduced from this year. Candidates who are going to apply for GATE examination can select the code ST to apply for statistics paper. GATE 2020 – Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification:
Candidates having the educational qualification of the following degrees are eligible to apply for GATE 2020.
- Sc (Research)/B.S
- E./B.Tech/B.Pharm
- Arch
- Professional Society Examination (equivalent to B.E./B.Tech/B.Arch)
- Sc./M.A./MCA or equivalent
- Integrated M.E/M.Tech (Post – B.Sc)
- Integrated M.Sc./Intergrated B.S-M.S
- Integrated M.E./M.Tech or Dual Degree (after Diploma or 10+2)
Age Limit
As per GATE Norms, there is no age limit for GATE examination.
Nationality
Candidates belong to India can apply for GATE Examination. Apart from that, people from Singapore, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates can apply for the GATE examination.

Steps to Apply for GATE 2020
- Gate official portal – gate.iitd.ac.in;
- Login with the email ID or mobile number that are in use
- The enrolment number and password will be sent to the registered email id.
- Using the ID and password login to the site and form of GATE 2020 examination with required details
- Attach signature, photograph and required document details according to size suggested
- Pay the GATE application fee using debit/credit cards.
- Once check completely and submit the application form.
- Acknowledgment will be sent to the applicants; take a printout of it for further reference.
