NEST Result 2020, Merit List Download: National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) released the NEST Exam Result 2020 on its official website, nestexam.in on 13th october at 7PM. NISAR conducted the NEST examination on 29th september, which is an admission test for NISER and the Center for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS), Mumbai. Candidates clearing the NEST examination with good merit will get admission into undergraduate degree courses in these institutions.

Integrated Science Education & Research Centre (ISERC) of Visva-Bharati University also offers admission for undergraduate degree programs based on the merit of NEST examination. The NEST examination has been organized in 91 cities across India and more than 80 thousand aspirants have competed for the NEST examination. Students competed for the NEST examination 2020 and waiting for the result can check the result, which has been already released by the conducting authority. National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) is the national level eligibility test organized by the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar. Candidates qualifying the NEST examination will get admission into NISER, ISERC, and UM-DAE CEBS in various undergraduate degree programs. The total number of available seats in NISER and UM-DAE CBS is 200+2 and 45+2 respectively. As there is a limited number of seats, competitors have to obtain the nest merit in the entrance test. Last year 80 thousand aspirants competed and 0.32% of aspirants got shortlisted for admissions in NISER and other institutes.

 NEST 2020 Marking System

  • 4 Sections consisting of 50 marks each and 1 general section consisting of 30 marks will be given.
  • Competitors have to attempt as many questions as he/she can.
  • The merit list will be prepared on the marks obtained in the general section and the best three of four sections.
  • The total marks of NEST 2020 can be calculated as 180 (30 + 50 x 3 = 180).

NEST 2020 Cut-off Marks

  • The total marks obtained by the candidate will be calculated on the marks obtained in the general section and the best three of four sections.
  • Section wise minimum admissible score (SMAS) will be calculated by “20% of the average of best 100 scores of that section” for each section.
  • The candidate must score more than or equal to the SMAS.
  • The candidates must score SMAS in general section as well as in best three sections to get into the merit list.
  • For the OBC category candidates: SMAS will be 90% of the General category candidates.
  • For SC/St category candidates: SMAS will be 50% of the General category candidate.
  • The candidate will have to score minimum admissible score (MAS) 50% of the total marks (90) to get in the merit list.
  • It is important to fulfill the MAS and SMAS conditions to get in the merit list.

Tie Breaking for NEST 2020

  • If two candidates got the same score, then the tie-breaker will be the marks scored in the general section.
  • If the general section marks are also the same, then the priority will be given to the subject section to generate the rank.
  • And if the section level marks are also same, the provisional rank of the candidates, marks scored in class 12th, and the date of birth of the candidate will be used for tie-breaking.

    I scored 92.049 percentile in NEST-2019 UNDER General category but my Merit Rank & Category Rank not mentioned in my Score Card.
