BREAKING: Education Ministry postpones Class 12 CBSE Board exams. Will review situation on June 1 to decide fresh dates. Class 10 CBSE Board exam cancelled.

After a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of Education has decided to postpone the class 12 exams and cancel the class 10 board exams. For CBSE class 12 boards, the situation will be reviewed on June 1 and revised dates will be announced thereafter.

Looking to the present situation Of the pandemic and school Closures, and also taking in account the safety and well-being of the students, it is decided as follows:

The Board Exams for Class XII to be held from May 4th to June 14th, 2021 are hereby postponed. These exams will be held hereafter. The situation will be reviewed on 1st June, 2021 by the Board, and details will shared subsequently, A notice Of at least 15 days will given before the start Of the examinations.

2. The Board Exams for Class X to be held from May to June 7th, 2021 are hereby cancelled. The results Of Class X Board will be prepared On the basis Of an objective criterion to be developed by the Board. Any candidate who is not satisfied with the marks allocated to him/her On this basis will given an opportunity to sit in an exam as and when the conditions are conducive to hold the exams.

  • A minimum of 25% must be secured in MCQ portion (30 out of 120)
  • A minimum of 25% must be secured in Drawing portion (20 out of 80)
  • Overall qualifying marks (out of 200) would be based on post-exam statistics and at the discretion of the Council.

UNIT-1

POLYMER TECHNOLOGY

Polymerisation:- Introduction, methods of polymerization (emulsion and suspension), mechanical properties. Plastics: Compounding, fabrication (compression, injection, blown film and extrusion), preparation, properties and applications (PVC, polycarbonates and Bakelite), mention some examples of plastic materials used in electronic gadgets, recycling of e-plastic waste (waste to wealth).

Elastomers:- Introduction, preparation, properties and applications (Buna S, thiokol and polyurethanes).

Composite materials: Fiber reinforced plastics, conducting polymers, biodegradable polymers, biopolymers, biomedical polymers.

Course Outcomes: At the end of this unit, the students will be able to Analyze the different types of composite plastic materials and interpret the mechanism of conduction in conducting polymers.

ELECTROCHEMICAL CELLS AND CORROSION

Single electrode potential, electrochemical series and uses of series, standard hydrogen electrode, calomel electrode, construction of glass electrode, batteries (Dry cell, Li ion battery and zinc air cells), fuel cells (H2-O2, CH3OH-O2, phosphoric acid and molten carbonate).

Corrosion:-Definition, theories of corrosion (chemical and electrochemical), galvanic corrosion, differential aeration corrosion, stress corrosion, galvanic series, factors influencing rate of corrosion, corrosion control (proper designing and cathodic protection), Protective coatings (surface preparation, cathodic coatings, anodic coatings, electroplating and electroless plating [nickel]), Paints (constituents, functions and special paints).

Part I : Non-elemental semiconducting materials:-

Stoichiometric, controlled valency & chalcogen photo/semiconductors-preparation of semiconductors (distillation, zone refining, Czochralski crystal pulling, epitaxy, diffusion, ion implantation) – Semiconductor devices (p-n junction diode as rectifier, junction transistor).
