All the Principals of colleges offering IV year B.Tech and B.Pharmacy courses are informed to note that the University is exploring feasibility to conduct the IV-II semester examinations of B.Tech/B.Pharmacy courses to the students at the centres which are near to their respective hometowns/ villages.

The Principals are requested to make arrangements to contact all final year students and take atmost three options (in the order of preference) from each student for writing their IV-II examinations. The places which the students are opting must have at least one JNTUH affiliated Engg. / Pharmacy college. The students who desire to write the exam at their parent college (where the student is studying), need not give their options. If any student does not submit his/her options, it shall be assumed that his/her parent college is his/her exam centre preference. Further if the seating capacity exceeds at all three preferences, Parent College shall be the exam centre for such students. The city/town of the parent college need not be included as a preference (by default his parent institute is his/her exam centre).

The entry of the student preferences have to be carried out by the college exam branch staff only. For the service to enter the student options, visit your college registration portal. Last date for uploading is 25th August, 2020 (Tuesday).

As per the UGC Revised Guidelines the end examinations for Final year Students are to be completed by end of September, 2020.

The University is working out for the best time to conduct there examinations safely. The official Examination Schedules will be communicated to all the students at least 15 days before commencement of examinations.

So, Students continue their preparations for the examinations.

AP Colleges Reopen Date 2020: Colleges in Andhra Pradesh will be reopened from October 15 and the set examinations would be conducted in September, said Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday.

The CM has also given a green signal for the recruitment of Assistant Professors in universities across Andhra Pradesh. The CM on Thursday held a review meeting with officials on higher education policy in the state.

YS Jagan said that apprenticeship will be provided for ten months in three-year and four-year degree courses. The CM asked officials to set up skill development and employment based courses to students after the completion of their apprenticeship.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister took several key decisions. CM Jagan directed authorities to take the gross enrollment in higher education to 90 percent. Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh and other senior officials attended the meeting.

The CM said the state government will go forward with the Honours degree, after the completion of the entire process. YS Jagan said that universities would be set up in Vizianagaram and Prakasam districts.

ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌లో అక్టోబర్‌ 15 నుంచి కళాశాలలు ప్రారంభించాలని ఆ రాష్ట్ర సీఎం జగన్ మోహన్ రెడ్డి నిర్ణయించారు. ఉన్నత విద్యపై సీఎం జగన్‌ ఉన్నతాధికారులతో సమీక్ష నిర్వహించారు. ఈ సందర్భంగా పలు కీలక నిర్ణయాలు తీసుకున్నారు. సెప్టెంబర్‌లో ఉమ్మడి ప్రవేశ పరీక్షలు నిర్వహించాలని సీఎం ఆదేశించారు. విజయనగరం, ప్రకాశం జిల్లాల్లో విశ్వవిద్యాలయాలు ఏర్పాటు చేయాలని నిర్ణయించారు.

అక్రమాలకు పాల్పడే కళాశాలలపై కఠిన చర్యలు తీసుకోవాలని అధికారులను సీఎం జగన్‌ ఆదేశించారు. గ్రాస్‌ ఎన్‌రోల్‌మెంట్‌ను 90శాతానికి తీసుకెళ్లాలని, మూడేళ్ల, నాలుగేళ్ల డిగ్రీ కోర్సుల్లో 10 నెలల అప్రెంటిస్‌షిప్‌ చేసేలా చర్యలు తీసుకోవాలని సూచించారు. ఆపై మరో ఏడాది నైపుణ్యాభివృద్ధి, ఉపాధి కల్పన కోర్సులు బోధన జరగాలన్నారు. విశ్వవిద్యాలయాల్లో అసిస్టెంట్‌ ప్రొఫెసర్ల భర్తీకి సీఎం జగన్‌ అనుమతిచ్చారు.

The State Board of Technical Education and Training, Telangana under the aegis of the Department of Technical Education, Telangana generally reviews the Curricula to tune up the updated development both in academic and industry side. However, recognizing the changing needs as stated by the user industries, the Board has decided to bring forward the revision of curriculum. Consequently the Board with the assistance of senior faculty of the concerned branches has performed the evaluation of C-16 Curriculum in force. On finding the merits and demerits of C-16 Curriculum the faculty have made a thorough assessment of the curricular changes that have to be brought in. It was felt that there is an urgent need to improve hands-on experience among the students pursuing diploma courses. Further, the urgency of enhancing communication skills in English was also highlighted in the feedback and suggestions made by the user industries. Keeping these in view, a number of meetings and deliberations were held at state level, with experts from industry, academia and senior faculty of the department. The new Curricula for the different diploma courses have been designed with the active participation of the members of the faculty teaching in the Polytechnics of Telangana, besides reviewed by Expert Committee constituted with eminent academicians.

The new C-18 curriculum is des igned, duly taking into consideration the Outcome Based Education model as per NBA norms and Credit system has also been introduced.

This new Curriculum has taken the Telangana State Industrial Policy in the course of Industrial Management and Entrepreneurship. Skill Upgradation is given importance by allotting 2.5 grade points per semester.

The primary objective of the curriculum change is to produce best technicians in the country by correlating growing needs of the industries with the academic inpu ts.

The revised New Curriculum i.e. , Curriculum – 2018 or C-18 is planned and designed by making 6 months industrial training is mandatory.

Salient Features:

1. Duration of course is 3 years of Regular Academic Instruction

  • The Curriculum is Outcome based and entirely Semester Pattern. More practical oriented , Flexible , Relevant to the industry needs , Develop entrepreneur ship skills
  • Specialized electives can be pursued from MOOC like SWAYAM / NPTEL
  • A maximum of 20% credits may be permitted under the above clause
  • To start with a robust curriculum structure is designed
  • course structure contains 5 theory courses and 5 Laboratory courses per semester
  • All theory courses will be of Lecture –Tutorial-Practicals (LTP) pattern
  • In order to ensure continuous evaluation total course content is divided into 3 parts i.e., Mid Sem I should be conducted from part I and Mid Sem II should be conducted from part II, End Examination shall be conducted for 40 marks of which 20 marks should be covered from part III , 20 marks covered from overall course content.
  • The sessional marks of 20 are assigned to slipt test, assignments, seminars, quiz etc.
  • The question paper pattern is comprising of short answer questions, Essay questions, Application based Questions covering the attributes of understanding, remembering and Application.
  • Scoring of the candidate in the examination is reflected in terms of grade points blending with relative grade point award system.

2. Keeping in view the increased need of communication skills which is playing a vital role in the success of Diploma Level students in the Industries, emphasis is given for learning and acquiring listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in English. Further as emphasized in the meetings, Communication Skills lab and Life Skills lab are introduced in III semester and Advanced Communication Skills lab and Life Skills lab as lab for elective IV in VI semester for all the branches.

3. Modern topics relevant to the needs of the industry and global scenario suitable to be taught at Diploma level are also incorporated in the curriculum.

4. CAD specific to the branch has been given more emphasis in the curriculum. Preparing drawings using CAD software has been given more importance.

5. Every student is exposed to the computer lab at the 1st year itself in order to familiarize himself/herself with skills required for keyboard/mouse operation, internet usage and e-mailing.

6. The number of teaching hours allotted to a particular topic/chapter has been rationalized keeping in view the past experience

7. Upon reviewing the existing C-16 curriculum, more emphasis is given to the practical content of Laboratories and Workshops, thus strengthening the practical skills.

8. With increased emphasis for the student to acquire Practical skills, the course content in all the courses is thoroughly reviewed and structured as outcome based than the conventional procedure based. While the course content in certain courses felt overloaded is reduced, in rest of the courses the content has been enhanced as per the need.

9. Curriculum of Laboratory and Workshops have been thoroughly revised based on the suggestions received from the industry and faculty, for better utilization of the equipment available at the Polytechnics. The experiments /exercises that are chosen for the practical sessions are identified to conform to the field requirements of industry.

10. The Members of the working group are grateful to Sri Navin Mittal I.A.S., Commissioner of Technical Education & Chairman, S.B.T.E.T.(TS) for his constant guidance and valuable inputs in revising, modifying and updating the curriculum.

II. RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. ADMISSION PROCEDURES:

1.1 DURATION AND PATTERN OF THE COURSES

All the Diploma programs run at various institutions are of AICTE approved 3 years duration of Academic Instruction. All the Diploma courses are run on semester wise pattern.

1. 2 PROCEDURE FOR ADMISSION INTO THE DIPLOMA COURSES:

Selection of candidates is governed by the Rules and regulations laid down in this regard from time to time.

i) Candidates who wish to seek admission in any of the Diploma courses will have to appear for Common Entrance Test for admissions into Polytechnics (POLYCET) conducted by the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Telangana, Hyderabad. Only the candidates satisfying the following requirements are eligible to appear for the Common Entrance Test for admissions into Polytechnics (POLYCET).

a) The candidates seeking admission should have appeared for the X class examination, conducted by the Board of Secondary Examination, Telangana or equivalent examination thereto, at the time of making application to the Common Entrance Test for Polytechnics for admissions into Polytechnics (POLYCET). In case of candidates who apply pending results of their qualifying examinations, their selection shall be course to production of proof of their passing the qualifying examination in one attempt or compartmentally at the time of interview for admission.

b) Admissions are made based on the merit obtained in the Common Entrance Test (POLYCET) and the reservation rules stipulated by the Government of Telangana from time to time.

c) For admission into the following Diploma Courses for which entry qualification is 10+2, candidates need not appear for POLYCET. A separate notification will be issued for admission into these courses.

1). D.H.M.C.T. 2). D. Pharmacy

1.3 MEDIUM OFINSTRUCTION

The medium of instruction and examination shall be English.

1.4 PERMANENT IDENTIFICATION NUMBER(PIN)

A cumulative / academic record is to be maintained of the Marks secured in sessional work and end examination of each year for determining the eligibility for promotion etc., a Permanent Identification Number (PIN) will be allotted to each candidate so as to facilitate this work and avoid errors in tabulation of results.

1.5 NUMBER OF WORKING DAYS PER SEMESTER/YEAR:

a). The Academic year for all the Courses usually shall be from June 1st week of the year of admission to the 31st March of the succeeding year.

b). The Working days in a week shall be from Monday to Saturday

c). There shall be 7 periods of 50 minutes duration on all working days.

d). The minimum number of working days for each semester / year shall be 90 / 180 days excluding examination days. If this prescribed minimum is not achieved due to any reason, special arrangements shall be made to conduct classes to cover the syllabus.

1.6 ELIGIBILITY OF ATTENDANCE TO APPEAR FOR THE END EXAMINATION

a). A candidate shall be permitted to appear for the end examination in all courses, if he or she has attended a minimum of 75% of working days during the year/Semester.

b). Condonation of shortage of attendance in aggregate upto 10% (65% and above and below 75%) in each semester or 1st year may be granted on medical grounds.

c). Candidates having less than 65% attendance shall be detained.

d). Students whose shortage of attendance is not condoned in any semester are not eligible to take their end examination of that class and their admissions shall stand cancelled. They may seek re-admission for that semester when offered next.

e). A stipulated fee shall be payable towards condonation for shortage of attendance.

1.7 READMISSION

Readmission shall be granted to eligible candidates by the respective Principal for the students who applies for readmission within one year i.e., subsequent next academic year. Otherwise, it has to referred to the RJD.

1) Within 15 days after commencement of class work in any semester (Except industrial Training).

2) Within 30 days after commencement of class work for D. Pharmacy course since it is year wise pattern.

Otherwise such cases shall not be considered for readmission for that semester / year and are advised to seek readmission in the next subsequent eligible semester/academic year. The percentage of attendance of the readmitted candidates shall be calculated from the first day of beginning of the regular class work for that year / Semester, as officially announced by CTE/SBTET but not from the day on which he/she has actually reported to the class work, after readmission is granted.

Mandatory Industrial Training:

Every student must undergo Industrial training during their course work during summer vacation

1. After II Semester Six to eight weeks of Industrial training / Skill development modules by TASK

2. After IV Semester Six to eight weeks of Industrial training

2. SCHEME OF EXAMINATION

2.1 I, II, III, IV, V and VI Semesters:

THEORY EXAMINATION: Each semester end examination carries 40 marks in respect of specified courses of 3hours duration, along with 60 marks for continuous internal evaluation.

The Semester End Examination paper shall be set for 80 marks and scaled to 40 marks

PRACTICAL EXAMINATION: Each laboratory course carries 40 marks of 3 hours duration and 60 sessional marks.

2.2 ASSESSMENT SCHEME

4. Seminar — 5 Marks

III. Mid sem Question paper pattern (40 marks to be halved for aggregate)

  • Part A shall consist of short answer questions
  • Part B shall consist of Essay questions
  • Part C shall be of Application based Questions

IV. End Sem Examinations (Set to 80 Marks and Scale to 40 Marks):

  • The Regular Examinations and Backlog Examinations shall be conducted separately.
  • Backlog examinations should be held before the commencement of Academic year to give sufficient time for the student to prepare for Backlog examinations.

VI. Grades:

The scale of credit points in the form of Grades is as follows with indicative percentages in the branches

  • A—9 (80-89.5%)
  • B+–8 (70-79.5%)
  • B—7 (60-69.5%)
  • C+–6 (50-59.5%)
  • C—5 (40-49.5%)
  • D—4 (35-39.5%)
  • E—0-<4 (< 35%)

VII. Pass Criteria:

The minimum marks required for passing in any course are as given below

  • Cumulative 35 % ( Mid Sem 1+ Mid Sem 2 +Tutorials + End Examination) and End Examination 35 % (i.e. 14 marks)
  • More than 50% in End Examination if cumulative is less than 35 %

VIII. Credits:

For theory courses – 3 Credits

For Laboratory courses – 1.5 Credits

Other courses – 2.5 Credits

Total credits per semester – 25 Credits

  • CGPA will be calculated for Regular Examinations only
  • Minimum credits for obtaining Diploma are 130 out of 150

IX. Electives:

The students are permitted to choose one elective from IV semester.

X. V Semester:

The student has to complete one minor project in addition to two core courses, two electives and Four Laboratory courses

  • The credits for minor project work are equal to one theory course and One Laboratory course i.e. 4.5 credits (200 Marks)

XI. VI semester :

  • The student can opt either Industrial Training or course work
  • The course work for VI Semester consists of three electives (theory) and Three Laboratory courses and one Major Project work.
  • The credits for Major project work are equal to two theory courses and two Laboratory courses i.e. 9 credits (400 marks)

a) Theory Courses: Theory Courses carry 20 % for Mid Sem I and 20 % for Mid Sem II and 20% for Tutorials which consists of Slip Test-I 5 Marks, Slip Test-II 5 Marks, Assignment-5 Marks and Seminar -5 Marks. Mid Sem examinations will be conducted on the dates specified by SBTET. The remaining 40% of theory will be conducted as End Semester Exam.

b) Practicals: Student’s performance in Laboratories / Workshop shall be assessed during each semester of study for 60 marks in each practical course. Allotment of internal Assessment marks of 30% should be discrete taking into consideration of the students skills, accuracy, recording and 20% of internal marks for performance of the task assigned to him / her lab practicals assessment test and 10% for records. Each student has to write a record / log book for assessment purpose. In the course of Drawing, which is also considered as a practical paper, the same rules hold good. Drawing exercises are to be filed in seriatim.

c) Internal assessment in Labs / workshops / Survey field etc., during the course of study shall be done and sessional marks shall be awarded by the concerned Lecturer / Senior Lecturer / Workshop superintendent with the concurrence of concerned HOS as the case may be.

d) For practical examinations, except in drawing, there shall be two examiners. External examiner shall be appointed by the Principal in consultation with respective head of the department preferably choosing a person from an Industry/Academician. Atleast one External Examiner from Industry should be appointed for core labs. The Internal examiner shall be the person concerned with internal assessment as in (c) above. The end examination shall be held along with all theory papers in respect of drawing.

e) Question Paper for Practicals: Question paper should cover all the experiments / exercise prescribed.

f) Records pertaining to internal assessment marks of both theory and practical courses are to be maintained for official inspection.

g) Evaluation and assessment of industrial training, shall be done and marks be awarded in the following manner.

Industrial assessment :  200 marks (in two spells of 100 m a r k s  each) Maintenance of log book :  60 marks

Record Work : 60 marks

Seminar / viva-voce : 80 marks

TOTAL : 400 marks

The assessment at the institute level will be done by a minimum of three members Internal Faculty, Industrial Experts and H.O.D. and be averaged.

2.3 MINIMUMPASSMARKS

THEORY EXAMINATION:

Pass Criteria: The minimum marks required for passing in any course are as given below

  • Cumulative 35 % ( Mid Sem 1+ Mid Sem2 +Tutorials + End Examination) and End Examination 35 % (i.e. 14 marks)
  • More than 50% in End Examination if cumulative is less than 35 %

PRACTICAL EXAMINATION:

For passing a practical course, a candidate has to secure, a minimum of 50% in end examination and a combined minimum of 50% of both sessional and practical examination marks put together. In case of D.C.C.P., the pass mark for typewriting and short hand is 45% in the end examination. There are no sessional marks for typewriting and Shorthand courses of D.C.C.P course.

2.4 PROVISION FOR IMPROVEMENT

  • CGPA will be calculated for Regular Examinations only

1. Improvement is allowed only after he / she has completed all the courses from First Semester to Final semester of the Diploma. 2. Improvement is allowed in any 4 (Four) courses of the Diploma. 3. The student can avail of this improvement chance only once, that too within the succeeding two examinations after the completion of Diploma, with the condition that the duration including Improvement examination shall not exceed FIVE years from the first admission. 4. No improvement is allowed in Practical / Lab courses or Project work or Industrial Training assessment. However, improvement is allowed in drawing course. 5. If improvement is not achieved, the marks obtained in previous Examinations holds good. 6. Improvement is not allowed in respect of the candidates who are punished under Mal-practice in any Examination. 7. Examination fee for improvement shall be paid as per the notification issued by State Board of Technical Education and Training from time to time. 8. All the candidates who wish to appear for improvement of performance shall deposit the original Marks Memos of all the years / Semesters and also original Diploma Certificate to the Board. If there is improvement in performance of the current examination, the revised Memorandum of marks and Original Diploma Certificate will be issued else the submitted originals will be returned.

3. RULES OF PROMOTION TO NEXT LEVEL:

3.1 For Diploma Courses for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Semesters:

1. A candidate shall be permitted to appear for first Semester examination provided he / she puts the required percentage of attendance (i.e., 75%) and pays the examination fee. However, attendance can be condoned by the Principal on Medical grounds upto 10% ( i.e. attendance after condonation on Medical grounds should not be less than 65%) and he/she has to pay the condonation fee along with examination fee as prescribed by SBTET from time to time.

2. A candidate shall be promoted to 2nd semester if he/she puts the required percentage of attendance (i.e., 75% in general and 65% on medical grounds) in the first semester and pays the examination fee. A candidate who could not pay the first semester examination fee has to pay the promotion fee as prescribed by State Board of Technical Education and Training from time to time before commencement of 2nd semester.

A candidate is eligible to appear for the 2nd semester exam if he/she puts the required percentage of attendance (i.e., 75% in general and 65% on medical condonation) in the 2nd semester.

3. A candidate shall be promoted to 3rd semester if he/she puts the required percentage of attendance (i.e., 75% in general and 65% on medical grounds) in the 2nd semester and pays the examination fee. A candidate who could not pay the 2nd semester examination fee has to pay the promotion fee as prescribed by State Board of Technical Education and Training from time to time before commencement of 3 rd semester.

A candidate is eligible to appear for the 3rd semester exam if he/she puts the required percentage of attendance (i.e., 75% in general and 65% on medical condonation) in the 3rd semester.

4. A candidate shall be promoted to 4th semester provided he/she puts the required percentage of attendance (i.e., 75% in general and 65% on medical condonation) in the 3 rd semester and pays the examination fee. A candidate, who could not pay the 3rd semester exam fee, has to pay the promotion fee as prescribed by State Board of Technical Education and Training from time to time before commencement of 4th semester.

A candidate is eligible to appear for the 4th semester exam if he/she

i. Puts the required percentage of attendance (i.e., 75% in general and 65% on medical grounds) in the 4th semester and pays exam fee.

ii. Should not have failed in more than 4 backlog courses of 1st and 2 nd semester put together.

For IVC students.

i) Puts the required percentage of attendance (i.e., 75% in general and 65% on medical grounds) in the 4th semester

ii) Should not have failed in more than 2 backlog courses of III Semester

5. A candidate shall be promoted to 5th semester provided he / she puts the required percentage of attendance (i.e., 75% in general and 65% on medical grounds) in the 4th semester and pays the examination fee. A candidate, who could not pay the 4th semester examination fee, has to pay the promotion fee as prescribed by State Board of Technical Education and Training from time to time before commencement of 5th semester as the case may be.

A candidate is eligible to appear for the 5th semester exam if he/she

i) Puts the required percentage of attendance in the 5th semester

ii) Should have appeared for 4th semester examination

6. A candidate shall be promoted to 6th semester provided he / she puts the required percentage of attendance (i.e., 75% in general and 65% on medical grounds) in the 5th semester and pays the examination fee. A candidate, who could not pay the 5th semester examination fee, has to pay the promotion fee as prescribed by State Board of Technical Education and Training from time to time before commencement of 6th semester as the case may be.

(a) A candidate is eligible to appear for the 6th semester (Theory) exam if he/she

i) Puts the required percentage of attendance in the 6th semester

ii) Should have appeared for 5th semester examination.

(b) A candidate is eligible to appear for 6th (Industrial Training) semester examination if he/she

i) Puts the required percentage of attendance i.e., 90% in 6th semester (Industrial Training)

ii) Should have completed the Industrial Training

iii) Should have submitted Industrial Training assessment report.
