AP ICET 2017 Normalization Procedure – How To Calculate Normalized Marks of the Candidate

AP ICET 2017 Normalization Procedure – How To Calculate Normalized Marks of the Candidate: Candidates are aware that the AP ICET-2017 is being conducted on 02-05-2017 in two sessions.

AP ICET 2017 Normalization Procedure – How To Calculate Normalized Marks of the Candidate

AP ICET 2017 Normalization Procedure

APICET-2017 is being conducted in two sessions based on the same syllabus, same pattern for candidates having same eligibility criteria. A candidate will be eligible to appear only in one session. Since the question paper will be different for each session, there is a possibility that the candidates compare themselves about the variation in the difficulty level of questions. However, it may be noted that utmost care will be taken so that all the papers are of same standard. Further, it is decided to adopt a normalization process to eliminate any such variations in the difficulty level of various sessions.

What is Normalization?

Normalization, as used in Indian context, is a process for ensuring the students neither advantaged nor disadvantaged by the difficulty of examinations conducted in multiple sessions. This process is based on a simple formula which has been adopted as recommended by the experts from reputed educational institutions at all India level and Universities. The process is being implemented in other all India / Nationwide entrance tests for admission into undergraduate and graduate professional courses. Normalisation process ranks all the candidates across all sessions on a comparative scale. In any normalization process, the marks of the easier session may be reduced marginally and the marks of the harder paper may increase marginally on the global level, depending on the average performance in each session. If there is no much difference in the averages between two sessions then there won’t be much difference in the normalized marks as well. Normalizing marks would justify the candidates while protecting their actual performance.

AP ICET marks Normalization Process:

The main aim of the normalization is to justify the candidates who got a difficult paper compared to an easier paper. Hence, the task is to rationalize in a best possible sense and rank the candidates based on the global performance. Various national level examination bodies like CAT, JEE (Main), GATE etc. are currently adopting such normalization procedures. Correspondingly, Committee on normalization has deliberated extensively and decided to use the following normalization procedure.

Ap EAMCET Normalized marks

SMS: (Average + Standard Deviation) of the session in which the candidate belongs to

GMS: (Average + Standard Deviation) of all the candidates across all sessions together

TopAverageSession: Average marks of the top 0.1% of the candidates in the session in which the candidate belongs to

TopAverageGlobal: Average marks of the top 0.1% of all the candidates across all sessions together

Weightage for assigning merit ranks: 75% of EAMCET normalized marks and 25% of Intermediate Marks in group subjects to prepare the rank.

Note: For the candidates for whom there is no qualifying cut off in APICET-2017, if the marks in APICET-2017 after normalization go below zero (negative), the total marks are treated as zero and the ranks are assigned based on those marks. If tie persists, then APICET-2017 normalization marks will be considered for breaking the tie.

Demonstration with a sample data:

The following is based on a sample data to explain the normalization process. The data is based on almost equal number of candidates in all the four sessions. The normalization is shown subject wise so that students get the benefit based on subject wise performance rather than the entire paper in a session.

Averages and Standard Deviations in a particular session and averages of top 0.1% candidates of a particular session, Global Average and Standard Deviations of all sessions together, Averages of top 0.1% candidates in all sessions is given in Table 1. Example data of normalized marks is shown in Table 2 to Table 4.

Summer Classes Not Good For Kids Health & Growth

VIJAYAWADA (Summer classes not good for kids) : Despite strict instructions from the government, corporate schools and colleges across the state are at liberty to conduct classes in summer holidays in the name of intensive summer coaching.

Summer classes not good for kids

Clear instructions from minister for human resources Ganta Srinivasa Rao were being ignored by officials and raising suspicions.

Summer Classes Would Harm Your Children

Doctors said that excessive burden on students in the name of summer classes would harm the child’s mental growth.

Corporate educational institutions have made summer coaching compulsory. Some schools have started the next academic year in the place of remedial classes.

Majority of junior colleges across the state are conducting summer classes creating problems to the students, who have been getting sick with the scorching heat.

Private Colleges Putting More Stress On Kids

“Private schools and Colleges are conducting classes without following the rules. Junior colleges are organising regular classes in the name of betterment coaching. Education department is taking a step back on this issue as these institutions are owned by TD ministers and MLAs,” says Progressive Democratic Students Union (PDSU) state secretary A. Ravi Chandra.

Psychiatrists are against summer classes as they increase burden on students
and it affects mental growth.

Need’s For Growth Of Your Children

“Summer vacation is much needed for the psychological growth of children. Other activities like music, sports and travel will help children learn about life. This excessive pressure is the reason for depression and suicidal tendencies, “said psychiatrist Dr Indla Wishal Reddy.

As per the Survey, only 4.77% of candidates are worth in coding. The remaining others are not up to the mark in coding.

95% Engineers In India Unfit for Programming (Coding) Jobs: Report

engineers in India unfit for coding jobs

A study has been made on 36,000 Engineering students from 500 colleges. The Survey has been specially made on Machine Learning based assessment of software development skills; in this study 2/3 of the individuals were not written the compiler understandable coding. In this study, an interesting aspect revealed is that 60% of individuals cannot even write the coding properly. Only 1.4% is correct in this.

"Lack of programming skills is adversely impacting the IT and data science ecosystem in India. The world is moving towards introducing programming to three-year-old! India needs to catch up," Aspiring Minds CTO and Co-Founder Varun Aggarwal said.

The employability gap can be credited to repetition learning based methodologies instead of really writing programs on a PC for various issues. Also, there is a shortage of good instructors for programming, since most great software engineers land positions in industry at great pay rates, the review said. In addition, programming abilities are five times poorer for level III schools when contrasted with level 1 universities.

“Sixty nine per cent of candidates from top 100 colleges are able to write a compilable code versus rest of the colleges where only 31 per cent are able to write a compilable code,” the report said.
