JNTUH Enhancement of Grace Marks from 0.25% to 0.50% and applying to any no.of theory subjects
In the University Order (2) read above, the University has approved for adding grace marks of 0.25% of total marks which will be added up to maximum three theory subjects as given below:
There are several representations received from the B.Tech R18 Regular, 2019 Lateral Entry students and their parents for subject exemption and further enhancement of grace marks similar to other Universities to be added in view of disturbance in regular class work (offline mode) for two years due to COVID pandemic and students have been mandated for attending online class. It was observed that few students who stays in villages could not attended all the classes due to internet and other technical issues. Because of this students could not have performed well in the examinations. In the present B.Tech R18 regulations there is no chance for subject exemption as it was available to B.Tech R15 and R16 Regulations.
In view of the above, it is proposed to enhance the percentage of grace marks to be added from 0.25% to 0.50% of total marks as mentioned below, further applying these enhanced grace marks for any number of theory subjects instead of three theory subjects:
Degree
Total of maximum marks in all eight semesters
Grace marks to be added (0.50% of maximum marks)
Rounded marks
B.Tech (R18) Regular admitted (For the A.Y 2021-22 outgoing students only)

29.50
30
B.Tech (R18) Lateral entry admitted (For the A.Y 2021-22 outgoing students only)
4600
23
23
This enhancement of grace marks shall be applicable to only for B.Tech. (R18 Regulations) 2018 regular, 2019 lateral entry admitted batch students and for the students admitted in previous regulations and completed fourth year in R18 regulations, without subject exemption, who are eligible to get degree in the academic year 2021-22 only. For all other batch students as well as other regulation students, the above enhancement of percentage grace marks will not be applicable and they have to satisfy their applicable rules and norms as per their academic regulations for getting the degree.
In view of the above circumstances, the Vice-Chancellor is pleased to accord permission to the Director of Evaluation for enhancing the grace marks from 0.25% to 0.50% and applying grace marks for any number of theory subjects (i.e maximum of 30 grace marks for regular and 23 grace marks for lateral entry students) for R18 B.Tech 2018 regular, 2019 lateral entry admitted batch students, and those who were admitted in previous regulations and completed final year in R18 regulations without subject exemption, who are eligible to get degree in the academic year 2021-22 only, subject to ratification by the Academic Senate/ Executive Council.
These orders shall come into force with immediate effect for the students of JNTUH University Colleges, JNTUH Affiliated and Affiliated Autonomous Colleges.

Preamble: This course covers mathematical modeling, time response, frequency response, stability analysis of Linear Time Invariant (LTI) control systems and their analysis. State space analysis of LTI systems and design of compensator using Bode diagrams is also discussed in this course.
OBJECTIVES:
To learn the mathematical modeling of physical systems and to use block diagram algebra and signal flow graph to determine overall transfer function
To analyze the time response of first and second order systems and improvement of performance using PI, PD, PID controllers. To investigate the stability of closed loop systems using Routh’s stability criterion and root locus method.
To understand basic aspects of design and compensation of LTI systems using Bode diagrams.
To learn Frequency Response approaches for the analysis of LTI systems using Bode plots, polar plots and Nyquist stability criterion.
To learn state space approach for analysis of LTI systems and understand the concepts of controllability and observability.
UNIT-1
Mathematical Modeling of Control Systems
Classification of control systems – open loop and closed loop control systems and their differences – Feedback characteristics – transfer function of linear system, differential equations of electrical networkstranslational and rotational mechanical systems – transfer function of Armature voltage controlled DC servo motor – block diagram algebra – signal flow graph – reduction using Mason’s gain formula.
Standard test signals – time response of first and second order systems – time domain specifications – steady state errors and error constants – effects of proportional (P) – proportional integral (PI) – proportional derivative (PD) – proportional integral derivative (PID) systems.
Stability Assessment Techniques
The concept of stability – Routh’s stability criterion – limitations of Routh’s stability, root locus concept – construction of root loci (simple problems) – Effect of addition of Poles and Zeros to the transfer function.
Introduction to frequency domain specifications – Bode diagrams – transfer function from the Bode diagram –Polar plots, Nyquist stability criterion- stability analysis using Bode plots (phase margin and gain margin).
Lag, lead, lag-lead compensators – physical realisation – design of compensators using Bode plots.

UNIT–5
State Space Analysis of Linear Time Invariant (LTI) Systems
Concepts of state – state variables and state model – state space representation of transfer function – diagonalization using linear transformation – solving the time invariant state equations – State Transition Matrix and its properties- concepts of controllability and observability.
