Keeping in view of the Proceedings of the Collector 86 District Magistrate, Prakasam District, Ongole cited under reference (9) for strict implementation of containment operations in the entire Ongole Municipal Corporation areas for two weeks w.e.f. 12.08.2020 duly curbing the timings of all activities related to essential commodities and services from 06.00 A.M. to 09.00 A.M. only in view of the steep increase in Covid-19 cases and deaths, the Vice-Chancellor has ordered that the existing schedule for the Examinations, 2020 of U.G. Courses be postponed and permitted to conduct the U.G. Examinations w.e.f. 02.09.2020 as per the schedule noted below;

The Vice-Chancellor has also ordered to request the Principals/Chief Superintendents of UG Examinations Centers to follow the safety measures of Covid-19 as prescribed by the Government/Health Department and to take necessary preventive measures.

Further, the Vice-Chancellor has ordered to inform the Principals/Chief Superintendents that appropriate disciplinary action will be initiated on such colleges which are not following Covid-19 safety measures.

States Cannot Decide Whether University Exams Will be Conducted or Not: UGC

Final year university exams to be conducted as per the orders released by the University Grants Commission. However, several states, including Delhi and Maharashtra, have problems with the exams amid the Covid-19 crisis. Therefore, the Supreme Court heard all sides of the story on Monday, August 08, 2020, postponed the final verdict about exams until August 14, 2020.

During the hearing at Supreme Court, UGC has said that states do not have the right to decide whether university exams be conducted or not.

The UGC in the Supreme Court questioned the decisions of Delhi and Maharashtra governments to cancel final year exams of state universities amid the Covid-19 pandemic, saying they were against the rules. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told a bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan that states cannot change the rules of the University Grants Commission (UGC) as only it is empowered to prescribe rules for conferring degree.

All the Principals of colleges offering IV year B.Tech and B.Pharmacy courses are informed to note that the University is exploring feasibility to conduct the IV-II semester examinations of B.Tech/B.Pharmacy courses to the students at the centres which are near to their respective hometowns/ villages.

The Principals are requested to make arrangements to contact all final year students and take atmost three options (in the order of preference) from each student for writing their IV-II examinations. The places which the students are opting must have at least one JNTUH affiliated Engg. / Pharmacy college. The students who desire to write the exam at their parent college (where the student is studying), need not give their options. If any student does not submit his/her options, it shall be assumed that his/her parent college is his/her exam centre preference. Further if the seating capacity exceeds at all three preferences, Parent College shall be the exam centre for such students. The city/town of the parent college need not be included as a preference (by default his parent institute is his/her exam centre).

The entry of the student preferences have to be carried out by the college exam branch staff only. For the service to enter the student options, visit your college registration portal. Last date for uploading is 25th August, 2020 (Tuesday).

As per the UGC Revised Guidelines the end examinations for Final year Students are to be completed by end of September, 2020.

The University is working out for the best time to conduct there examinations safely. The official Examination Schedules will be communicated to all the students at least 15 days before commencement of examinations.
