OU Closure of All Educational Institutions, Hostels & Messes including Libraries till 29th May 2020

Osmania University (OU) In continuation of the University Circulars in the reference 1 to 4 cited and in terms of G.O. 5th cited, all the Campus, Constituent, District PG Colleges and Affiliated Colleges including Libraries under the jurisdiction of Osmania University will remain closed till 29.05.2020 to prevent and contain the spread of COVID-19 Virus in the State of Telangana.

The Hostels & Messes of Campus and Constituent Colleges will also remain closed till 29.05.2020. Further, in accordance with the G.O. 5 cited all the administrative offices of the Colleges and the University shall function without any restrictions, with officers of the cadre of Assistant Registrar and above to the extent of 100% strength and the remaining staff up to 33% as per requirement, with immediate effect.

A Common Entrance Test designated in full as Andhra Pradesh Engineering Common Entrance Test for Diploma Holders and for B.Sc.(Mathematics) Degree Holders and in short as AP ECET 2020 will be conducted by JNT University Anantapur on behalf of the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education for the academic year 2020-21 in accordance with G.O.Ms.No:24 Education (EC) Department dated:18.03.2004, G.O.Ms.No:25, dated:28.06.2006 and G.O.Ms.No:19, dated: 02.02.2008 For Diploma Holders and G.O.Ms.No.57 (EC2) dated:12.05.2008 & G.O.Ms.No58 (EC2) dated:12.05.2008 for B.Sc.(Mathematics) degree holders.

A.P Common Entrance Test (APECET-2020) will be conducted on 24-07-2020 from 10 AM to 1 PM for admission into 2nd year level lateral entry into Engineering/Pharmacy courses for Diploma holders of engineering & Technology and B.Sc. Candidates for the academic year 2020-21. Eligible candidates an submit their applications through online mode only, by paying the application registration and processing fee of Rs 550/- through AP online payment gateway (credit card / Debit card and net banking). The Detailed information regarding eligibility, syllabus and model question paper, mock test, related instructions and procedure for online submission of applications are available on the website www.sche.ap.gov.in/ecet.

(i) For lateral admission into 2nd year regular B.E. and B.Tech Courses in All India Council for Technical Education approved Un-Aided Private Professional institutions (Minority & non-Minority) and University Engineering Colleges for the seats specifically earmarked for Diploma holders and B.Sc degree holders for the academic year 2020-21.

(ii) For lateral admission into 2nd year regular B.Pharmacy Courses in Un-Aided Private Professional institutions (Minority & non-Minority) and University Pharmacy Colleges approved by Pharmacy Council of India for the seats specifically earmarked for Diploma holders and B.Sc degree holders for the academic year 2020-21.

  • NOTE : Diploma holders of Petroleum Engineering / Technology are eligible to apply for Chemical Engineering.

Qualifying marks in APECET -2020

The qualifying percentage marks for obtaining a rank in APECET -2020 is 25% of the aggregate marks in the four subjects (three subjects for B.Sc. Mathematics) i.e., 50 marks out of a total of 200. However, in the case of SC/ST candidates, there shall be no minimum qualifying marks for ranking the candidates.

The rank obtained with the benefit of relaxation of the minimum qualifying marks at the APECET [FDH & B.Sc.(with Mathematics as one of the optional subjects)]-2020 by any candidate claiming to belong to SC/ST category will be cancelled in case the claim is found to be invalid at the time of admission.

Telangana Lockdown Extension: Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrashekhar Rao announced in a press meet that the lockdown in the state is extended till 29th May 2020. The decision is announced after a Special State Cabinet meeting held at Pragathi Bhavan today.

In the references 2nd to 4th read above, Government of Telangana imposed a state-wide lockdown from 22.03.2020 to 07.05.2020 to prevent and contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.

2. In the reference 5th read above, the Commissioner of School Education, Telangana, Hyderabad informed that that the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Telangana State announced that as there is no detention system for classes I to IX in the State, there is no need to conduct examinations and all the students are to be promoted to the next higher classes for the academic year 2020-21, as the Summative Assessment (SA-2) examinations for Classes I to IX during the Academic Year, 2019-20 could not be conducted as scheduled in the reference 1st read above due to lockdown and requested the Government to issue necessary orders in the matter.

3. Government, after careful examination of the matter and keeping in view of hardship caused due to Covid-19 pandemic, hereby decide to cancel the Summmative Assessment–II Examinations for the Classes I to IX and order to promote all the students of Classes I to IX studying in Government, Aided and Private Unaided Schools during the Academic Year, 2019-20, to next higher Classes in the Academic Year, 2020-21.

4. The Commissioner of School Education, Telangana, Hyderabad shall take necessary action in the matter, accordingly.
