What Is GATE?

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2015) is an all India examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of the candidate in various undergraduate subjects in Engineering/Technology/Architecture and post-graduate level subjects in Science. The GATE score of a candidate reflects a relative performance level in a particular subject in the exam across several years. The score is used for admissions to post-graduate programs (e.g., M.E., M.Tech, direct Ph.D.) in Indian institutes of higher education with financial assistance provided by MHRD and other Government agencies.

About GATE 2015

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) jointly administer the conduct of GATE. The operations related to GATE in each of the 8 zones are managed by a zonal GATE Office at the IITs or IISc. The Organizing Institute (OI) is responsible for the end-to-end process and coordination amongst the administering Institutes. The Organizing Institute for GATE 2015 is IIT Kanpur

Note : Validity of GATE 2015 score will be for a period of 3 (THREE) YEARS ONLY from the date of announcement of results. For all the papers, GATE 2015 examination will be conducted in only ONLINE mode. For some of the papers the examination will be conducted in multiple sessions.

Steps To Taken Before the Gate 2015 Exam(Important) :

Eligibility:

Before starting the application process, the candidate must:

1. Ensure that he/she meets the eligibility criteria (given below) of GATE 2015.

2. Determine the GATE paper you wish to appear for. A candidate is allowed to appear in ONLY ONE paper.

3. Choose the City of choice to appear for the examination: There are two primary choices and one secondary choice. If you choose a particular city as your first choice, then the corresponding zone to which this city belongs will appear, and you will be able to choose another city as your second choice only from this zone. These choices will be your primary choices in a specific zone. However, a third choice has also been introduced in GATE 2015, which is your secondary choice. The list of 3rd choice cities will be as specified by each zone and this will be used only when your cities of primary choice are not available. However, because of operational constraints, the GATE committee reserves the right to add a new city or remove an existing one, and allot a city that may not be any of the choices of a candidate.

JNTUK’s “Centre of Excellence for e-Resource Development & Deployment (CoEeRD)” has been set-up to address the changing learning trends in engineering education. CoEeRD is a first of its kind, an initiative undertaken by an Indian University that uses the power of technology and eLearning to simplify and standardize teaching / learning processes at colleges. The conferencing system, built into CoEeRD enables one-to-many and many-to-many transmissions while teaching critical concepts that makes learning interactive and interesting.

CoEeRD has two major components:

1. Engineering eLearning courseware and
2. bi-directional HD conference system and is designed to enable the University to achieve academic excellence through standard and wholesome course delivery, at its constituent and affiliated colleges across JNTUK’s jurisdiction.
“Make Teaching Interesting and Receivable, then learning can be enjoyable”.

The aim of this CoEeRD project is to leverage technology to:

Deliver Expert Faculty Lectures through HD conferencing system
Interact with Industry Experts and Eminent persons
Standardize the content delivery methodology
Enhance the faculty effectiveness in classroom deliveries
Provide Teaching resources to Faculty and Learning Resources to Students
Address varying learning abilities of a student in a classroom

The implementation of the CoEeRD project comprises of :

A Central studio setup in JNTUK Campus, with necessary tools and facilities and all affiliated colleges will opt for relevant infrastructure to broadcast/participate in Live HD conference sessions
Deploy ‘Engineering eLearning Courseware’ on LAN / Online for use by faculty to enhance their classroom deliveries and for self study purpose to students.
The HD Conferencing System can also be leveraged to deliver value added programs like :
Industry endorsed Value Addition certificate programs
Certificate programs in Distance Learning mode
Foreign University certificate programs

JNTU-KAKINADA : Clarification on Exemption of 8 Credits For B.Tech (R10) Regulation Students

Jntuk b.tech 8 credits clarification As per academic regulations of 2010 batch admitted, a student will be declared eligible for the award of B.Tech degree if he or she fulfills the following academic regulations:

“For the award of a degree, candidate has to register for 208 credits and secure 200 credits with compulsory subjects: (compulsory subjects are: all Laboratories and Project work, i.e., the student shall pass all Laboratory examinations and project work)”

– Rule 1(b) of Academic Regulations 2010 for B.Tech.(Regular)

However, number of Principles and Students (2010 admitted) of Affiliated Colleges are asking for clarification for the above academic regulation.

As per the directions of Hon’ble Vice – Chancellor and as per the approval in standing council of academic senate of JNTUK, Kakinada, the following clarification is furnished:

I : The student can be awarded degree for 200 credits by exempting maximum of 2 subjects of 2 credits each for I year (1^stand 2^nd Semester combined) and any one subject of 4 credits from II year to IV year of odd and even semesters.

II : The student can be awarded degree for 200 credits by exempting any 2 subjects of 4 credits each from II year to IV year of odd and even semesters.

Also, the students of 2010 batch admitted will be awarded B.Tech degrees as per the following grades listed below:

Grade & Description	% of marks secured
E – AVERAGE	40% to < 50%
D – SATISFACTORY	50% to < 60%
C – FAIR	60% to < 70%
B – GOOD	70% to < 80%
A – EXCELLENT	80% to < 90%
O – OUTSTANDING	90 and above

All the concerned are requested to note the same and act accordingly.

All the principals of affiliated colleges are hereby informed that the challenge re-valuation in respect of II B.Tech II semester Supplementary and IV B.Tech II Semester
Regular/Supplementary shall be conducted at JNT University Examinations Branch on 30-06- 2014.

The following list of students who have applied for challenge re-evaluation and principals are requested to inform the date and venue to their students concerned to appear for challenge re-valuation. Every student should be attended along with subject expert and report on 30-06-2014 at 9.00 am without fail. Subject experts are advised to come with full solution of the paper.
